Fuerza Regida Concert at Chase Field Named a Measles Exposure Site in Phoenix

No panic needed, but anyone at Chase Field on July 12 should check their MMR status and watch for symptoms through August 3.

Measles Exposure Confirmed at the Fuerza Regida Concert at Chase Field

Fuerza Regida fans who packed Chase Field earlier this month have a health notice worth taking seriously. The Maricopa County Department of Public Health has identified the July 12 Fuerza Regida concert at Chase Field as a possible measles exposure site, after a person infected with the virus attended while contagious. If you were there, this is not a reason to panic, but it is a reason to check your records and pay attention.

Where and When the Exposures Happened

According to the county, the exposure at Chase Field ran from 7 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, July 12. The same individual, described as a non-resident visiting the area, was linked to several other locations across the Valley on July 12 and 13, including the Chandler Fashion Center, The Taco Spot, a Sonesta Select hotel, an IHOP, and a bb.q Chicken. Health officials are asking anyone who was at these spots during the listed windows to verify their vaccination status and monitor for symptoms.

Why Officials Are Treating It Seriously

Here is why the county is treating this carefully. Measles is one of the most contagious diseases known, capable of lingering in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves a room. Symptoms usually start with a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes, followed a few days later by the telltale rash. They can take one to three weeks to appear, which is why Maricopa County is asking exposed attendees to watch themselves through August 3. Anyone developing symptoms is urged to call a doctor before showing up in person, so a clinic can take steps to avoid exposing others in the waiting room.

The Best Protection You Might Already Have

The best protection is one many people already have. The MMR vaccine is about 97 percent effective at preventing measles with two doses, according to the CDC, so fans who are fully vaccinated are at very low risk. The concern is largely for those who are unvaccinated, under-vaccinated, or unsure of their status, along with infants and people with weakened immune systems. Checking your immunization records now is the simplest step available, and it costs nothing but a few minutes.

A Bigger Picture Worth Noticing

This also arrives against a worrying backdrop. Maricopa County has confirmed 25 measles cases in 2026, a staggering jump for a place that has historically averaged roughly one case per year. That spike mirrors a broader national return of a disease the United States once declared eliminated, driven largely by falling vaccination rates in some communities. A single contagious concertgoer being able to trigger alerts across six public venues is exactly the kind of ripple effect that makes measles so difficult to contain once it gets a foothold.

The Bottom Line for Fans

Fuerza Regida has not issued a statement on the situation, and to be clear, nothing about this is the group's fault or the venue's. This is a public health matter, not a scandal. The responsible takeaway for the raza who came out to support their favorite band is simple: confirm your MMR status, keep an eye out for symptoms through early August, and call your doctor first if anything feels off. Better a quick check than a preventable illness.
